Being of ‘The Brotherhood…’

At the risk of being overly philosophical in this post, we thought we’d attempt to touch base on what it is that attracts us – men especially – to those in earlier times who served as knights? The whole idea & concept of an Order and being part of a “Brotherhood” leaves many innately intrigued. What is it exactly? The Chivalric Orders – whether Teutonic, Templar, Hospitaller, or Livonian – seem to act as a magnet for a large group of people. Why is this? It is an age long ago (after all we’re talking Medieval Times here) and the Chivalric Orders – though still existing today – seem to be “off the front pages” as it were. We thinks there may be a cultural reason for this. Ever since the advent of what is termed “pop culture”, which Wikipedia defines as

But of course!!! Just trying a little “off the wall” marketing to hopefully draw those eyes which we have hitherto missed. As you know, we need to draw attention to the project, the site, and the Indiegogo.com page. In this day and age when (it seems like) everyone is attempting crowdfunding, you have to set yourself apart from the others. Now the real crunch time begins!!! As of about 2 a.m EST, the Indiegogo.com page went active. A bit delayed after some hand-to-hand combat with PayPal (why is it there’s such trouble recognizing accounts?) but that should be ironed out soon if you’re looking to donate via PayPal. We’re Up!!! We’re Up!!! We’re Up!!! A long time in coming – maybe too long for some of our fans – but trying to prep the ground properly. Crowdfunding is not an exact science and many are still learning as we go along. Most of the preparation concerned getting the word out via the Facebook page, which still continues to steam on strongly...

Yesterday was contacted by a family member from former Teutonic Knight Großmeister Ludolf Koënig, who served as Großmeister from 1342 – 1345.  He provided his bona fides (verified) and was cautiously interested to know more about the project, which I layed out to him  in detail (members of The Order  and their families are – understandably – very discreet individuals). Our Facebook page has been generating a lot of interest from around the world, most specifically from here in the U.S, Great Britain, & (of course) Germany.
