What a weekend! Wrapped up the 2014 Airshow @ Planes of Fame Air Museum in Chino, CA. It was a salute to the 8th USAAF and its contributions to winning World War II in the European Theatre. Some really amazing & rare aircraft – not only – in attendance but flying!!! : two B-17G‘s, about a half-dozen P-47 Thunderbolts (Museum even owns one of the few “Razorbacks” left in operation), F4U Corsairs, Grumman F3F Wildcat & F6F’ Hellcat (dubbed “the Zero Killer” because it was the first American fighter that could outperform & outturn the Mitsubishi A6M Zero), the SBD Dauntless Dive Bomber (victor of Battle of Midway 1942 where it sank three Japanese carriers in the span of about ten minutes), TBM Avenger Torpedo Bomber, P-40 Warhawk, a Mitsubishi A6M Zero, and a rebuilt Vultee aircraft that doubled as a Japanese Type 97 Val Dive Bomber in the epic motion picture Tora! Tora! Tora! Then things really got interesting when the B-17’s took to the air along with the P-47′s, P-51‘s, a P-38 Lightning, Supermarine Spitfire,YAK-3, & a legendary Focke-Wulf FW-190 of new construction! (see here: flugwerk.de). The show stealer though had to be the two F-22 Raptors that showed up! An amazing aircraft – can nearly stop mid-air! Only one took to the sky (the other being static) but they had the audience enthralled!!! Shot some vid which is in the process of being uploaded to the youtube channel. Check back often for updates ’cause we’re still uploading vids!!!
It should be noted that aerial warfare has proven one of the last holdouts of the chivalric code. It was set during the First World War (1914-1918) when cavalrymen (with nothing to do since Hiram Maxim invented the machine gun & put them all out of jobs) left that service and began to populate a new one: the Air Corps. They brought with them that sense of honor & chivalry that was imbued into them in the cavalry. Aces such as Oswald Boëlcke, Manfred von Richthofen, Werner Voss, Ernst Udet, Albert Ball, Billy Bishop, Edward Mannock, Rene Fonck, Georges Guynamer, & Eddie Rickenbacker set a standard for this type of new warfare and it stayed strong throughout the Second World War. Perhaps it has waned a bit with the advent of stealth technology (i.e.”push button” warfare) & therein lies the danger: the more “de-personalized” war becomes, the more it becomes like a video game.

The work on both THE MARSCHER LORDS:Brotherhood or Death & Masters of War: Soldiers of Distinction continues apace. As previously noted, we’ve been approached by a new distributor for Masters of War & they’re really excited about it, to the point of issuing us a Letter of Intent to Distribute. There is so much material that the Military Channel (now AHN) has missed & people don’t know. There’s a big void that this series will fill. Even speaking with reenactor groups (present at the Air Show) there were a good number of individuals & topics they’d (incredibly) never heard of!!! That’s okay, that’s what this series is designed to do: shine the light into areas hitherto unknown and bring to the fore individuals previously obscured and/or ignored. If you could, go to our Facebook pages for both projects: THE MARSCHER LORDS:Brotherhood or Death & Masters of War:Soldiers of Distinction, Like & Share please!!! We’re very close to 5,000 Likes for THE MARSCHER LORDS:Brotherhood or Death! Let’s get there together!!! As I’ve said so many times this is a project that YOU can help make happen!!! Times have changed: you don’t have to leave it up to “the suits” to decide what you want to see. Now, you have the power to command & control what you watch & when you watch it. As all of us keep saying & you hear it @ other blogs too, these are revolutionary times we’re livin’! You have the power now!!!
One of the most important aspects of THE MARSCHER LORDS:Brotherhood or Death is the concept of chivalry and how we seek to introduce (or should that be “re-introduce” for new generations?) Simple respect for each other, ourselves, women, the God that you worship, & those less fortunate than ourselves can go very far into making this world a better place. We don’t mean to preach/cajole/or nudge. We prefer to lead by example. ;<)
