ReGroup/ReLoad/Relaunch!!!
Well, the campaign on Indiegogo expired without us reaching out target goal of $70,000 for the production of THE MARSCHER LORDS:Brotherhood or Death. We’ll fall on our swords since – obviously – there’s still some things/nuances we’re not doing/aware of re: crowdfunding. There’s a big, still-evolving learning curve on it and obviously our blade isn’t sharp enough yet to cut through the vast swathe of crowdfunding projects listed on the various crowdfunding sites. That’s ok. We’re all about moving forward and learning as we go. The time the project was active was not wasted, we made many more contacts & connections and were/still are able to turn more people on to the project. Wonder if we were doing a zombie project if we’d’ve done better $$ wise? :<D

So sayeth the great Og Mandino, author of the incomparable Greatest Salesman in the World. We have had interest on this – and other – QuarterDeck projects come in from private sources. We’re in talks with them now. So stay tuned. One thing you can be assured of: we will secure the production capital goal, either through private sources or regrouped effort via a crowdfunding source. It’s simply too good a project to just walk away from. When you’ve created something outstanding, do you just walk away and leave it behind? Granted, just because you create something (script, song, sculpture, poem, casserole) and think its outstanding doesn’t make it so, but once that creation has been vetted by – and lived with as it evolves – a healthy cross-section of knowledgeable individuals in – and out – of a particular industry, you can be pretty confident you have something unique. Obviously, we haven’t imparted that magic of the project to the public at large. So, we have more work to do. We need to impart to people how special THE MARSCHER LORDS:Brotherhood or Death is, there’s no violence, sex, foul language, or innuendo.
Then what the hell do I want to see this for? Well, story for one. Remember that? That’s the spine upon which the pictures of the story are hung. If that’s not enough then I would direct you to something more suitable to those tastes. Make no mistake: we’re not prudes. As stated in a previous post, violence has (& will always have) a place in film. The late great Sam Peckinpah is one of our all time favs; see his signature slo-mo handiwork here. But story – with exceptions of course – unfortunately seems to have fallen by the wayside. CGI, FX, Zombies, SuperHeroes & bikini models seem to be the substitute. All can be great when worked into an incredible story. But we digress, the important thing is to…

Speaking of story, make sure you check out Kyle Hester & Gary Hubb‘s project Burden of Freedom: here’s another one we must all get onboard to make it a reality.
It’s a terrific, must-see story: it concerns the demon that still haunts American Veterans who’ve returned from Iraq and Afghanistan: PTSD. It’s a killer folks, just as any enemy bullet, grenade, or IED can but it is more insidious: PTSD kills over time and not only the individual afflicted. It hurts and can also kill their families & friends. This rampant PTSD problem could very well be the consequence of a down-sized military: remember the so-called “Peace Dividend”? Cutting active duty divisions by about half so when it came time to fight these conflicts, the same units had to pull the heavy load over & over again. Folks should take note & take a lesson from Military History: with a resurgent Russia & the Chinese flexing & projecting muscle in the Pacific this is no time to half (yet again) the U.S. Military. Otherwise subsequent generations of Americans will have to tread these same treacherous pathways too familiar to our Veterans today. Igitur qui desiderat pacem, praeparet bellum (If You Want Peace, Prepare for War) so said by Vegitius during the later Roman Empire. May we all stand up, take note, and take action. It’s later than all of us think.
