Rediscover Chivalry…

Presaging Scorched Earth: The Other Side of World War II: Opening today of note is a new Russian film Stalingrad directed by Fedor Bondarchuk, son of Sergie Bondarchuk, the legendary director of such cinematic masterpieces as War & Peace (roundly considered an epic among epics) & Waterloo. The production value is very high and it is the first film about Stalingrad ever shot in 3-D. Should make for an interesting two hours for that alone. This review however doesn’t give the story many high marks. But movies are like ice cream, there’s different flavors.

Pledges remain low (hell – we’re not even in the ballpark) for THE MARSCHER LORDS:Brotherhood or Death and we’re getting down to the wire: as of this writing 15 days left. At a loss really as to why all those who clicked Like on Facebook (now up to 4,375 Likes!) have not donated to the project. At that number, if everyone took the lowest tier – $25 – we would have attained the $70,000 production goal plus had a nice tidy sum to divide between charities of the Teutonic Order , Order of St. Constantius, and the Gary Sinise Foundation. The latter does incredible work for American Veterans and helps them transition from the long conflicts in both Iraq & Afghanistan, “We can always do a little more.” That about sums it up, right there.

We are not giving up however. 4,375 Likes already (and it continues to increase) proves a major point: there is an audience for a film such as this. If we had a bigger budget for PR, we’d probably be up around 10,000 by now. But we have to keep it down as we struggle forward to make this project both a reality & a success. The project is just so different on so many levels it simply has to be made: the story, the way it’s told, the language used therein, the uniqueness of it, the style of the time, the production design Sir Brick has planned, the genius of our Storyboard Artist Jane Brewster and her incredible way of interpretation, Production Sound maven Dean Andre, who is excellence bar none when it comes to sound (who better to have on sound when shooting outside and next to the ocean?), and to Director of Photography John Lynch, who’s keen eye garnered him best Cinematography Award at the Toronto Film Festival for his work on the feature Pandeamonium.

We’ve got some more work to do, so we’ll do it! The franchise potential within this project demands it!!!
